Kris Meeke IRC Champion
Peugeot's Kris Meeke has won the 2009 Sanremo Rallye to become this year's Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion.
Kris drove an impeccable rally to claim the title with one round remaining, the Rally of Scotland in November.
The Irishman was co-driven by Paul Nagle, and they were both in the frame for the title form the start of the rally. Kris really got into his stride on Saturday by recording 3 fastest times of the leg's 5 stages. It was an incredible achievement to beat the local Italian drivers at home on an event where they were clear favorites to win.
Meeke can now expect a huge homecoming welcome on next weekend's Colin McRae Stages. As Colin's protégé in his earlier years, the many hours of hard work have finally paid off and Colin would have been proud of what Kris has achieved.
