Historique latest - challenging conditions

With the Alps Maritimes blanketed in thick snow, the latest news is that the 2017 Monte Carlo Historique rally is currently being led by the Danish Audi 80 GLE of Toni Hansen and Per Brodersen 60 points ahead of the Monégasque entered Golf GTI of Daniel Elena and Olivier Campana. IRDC secretary Tony Graham, co-driving for brother Steve in their Lancia Fulvia 1600 HF found the conditions difficult and tumbled down the results to 126th overnight.

Leading British crew is David Mustarde and Willie Cave in a creditable 43rd place overall in their 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulietta TI. Among the British contingent, the Adam Lindemann/Peter Scott Austin Healey 3000 has retired as has the Clive Berry/Ruper Barker Talbot Sunbeam TI.

Crews face 4 challenging regularity sections in the mountains today, 5 more tomorrow (Tuesday) and 2 on Wednesday before searching among the petrol cans, tools and shovels in their boot in time for the grand Automobile Club de Monaco gala prize giving dinner.
