Race-Retro Stoneleigh 21-23 February
Race-Retro is the annual motorsport showcase that combines all forms of historic motorsport and even uses a rally special stage, populated by an eclectic selection of iconic rally cars, as live spectator entertainment. Now in its tenth year, the show describes itself as 'Europe's Premier Historic Motorsport Show' and continues to grow in stature.
The Race-Retro Live Rally Stage always proves to be a favourite with the international audience. Running on Saturday and Sunday and this year listing an entry of 51 cars, including an event debut for the charismatic Lancia Delta Integrale S4. Other entries include the redoubtable Bob Beales in his well-known and venerable VW, Graham Goodall's Austin Healey 3000 and Mick Covill's Lancia Beta.
Away from the sharp February temperatures at the rally stage, Race-Retro's packed three-day event timetable shows stars from the past being interviewed in the comparative warmth of the central diaz and these include Terry Hunter, Tony Southgate, Russell Brookes, Win Percy, Barry Lee, Tony Mason, Mark Higgins, Barrie Williams and the great Sir Stirling Moss.
As the icing on the Race-Retro cake, Sunday sees competitors taking part in the Classic Rally Association's Winter Challenge to Monte Carlo completing their first 'special test' at Stoneleigh before heading towards France, the Alps and eventually for some, the warmth of the Mediterranean sunshine!
