Tom Cave looks forward to Rallyday

Welsh rally driver Tom Cave is looking forward to the annual Rallyday event at Castle Combe this weekend, as he will be representing both the MSA British Rally Championship, where he is currently in second place and the International Rally Drivers Club, of which he is a member. The 21 year-old has been absent from the event since 2010 but loves the opportunity to drive on the feature stage in front of rally fans without the pressure of competition.

Tom last attended in his semi-works Proton Satria Neo S2000 three years ago and represented the IRDC on that occasion. However, this year he will fly both the IRDC and the BRC flag in his DMS Morris Lubricants-run Citroen DS3, as one of several drivers from the series supporting the organiser's presence at the event.

Rallyday has become a mecca for rally fans, thanks to its huge support from not only the fans but manufacturers and drivers. Names such as Petter Solberg, Jari-Matti Latvala and Alister McRae have all driven a variety of rally cars around the feature stage, using part of the Wiltshire circuit. This year, 2013 FIA World Rally Championship leader, Sebastien Ogier, will be headlining the day.

As Rallyday features demonstration runs and not actual competition, many drivers relish the opportunity of simply driving for the fun of it and as a result, clouds of tyre smoke and near-endless donuts are commonplace.

Commenting, Tom said; "I am really excited to be heading back to RallyDay. The last time I was there was in the Proton and we had a great time; the organisation is amazing and the atmosphere is like nothing I've ever experienced. I am also very proud to have been asked to support both the British Rally Championship and the IRDC. The BRC is incredibly competitive this year and it will be quite nice to be in a rallying environment and be able to relax a little, spend some time with the other drivers and have some fun without the pressure to chase a result. The IRDC is a wonderful organisation and I have been a member since I started rallying, It's very inspirational and I am delighted to be able to support it, as well as the BRC."

Rallyday takes place on Saturday 21 September at Castle Combe near Chippenham in Wiltshire. For more information go to:- www.rallyday.com.
