Rally Argentina, fifth round of the 2013 World Rally Championship, turns south for its longest day on Friday and Sebastien Loeb is ready to redouble his efforts to catch Sebastien Ogier. The Citroen driver is trailing his Volkswagen rival by 16.3 seconds going into the second day of the event, but still having his sights set on a remarkable eighth straight Rally Argentina victory.

Friday?s stages are a little bit different in character and Loeb had a good feeling with the car on Thursday?s stages, but experienced a tyre selection problem, choosing the hard tyre because he thought there would be no rain. OK, it didn't rain all of the time, but the stage wasn?t completely dry as Loeb thought it would be

Ogier said that he was ready to mirror Loeb's flat-out approach to the stages around Santa Rosa, as he does not regard his 16 second lead as safe enough to take it easy.

Following his prolonged illness and the loss of one month?s vital training, the championship leader admitted he was feeling the effects of almost two hours of flat-out driving in the Polo on Thursday. Loeb's team-mate Mikko Hirvonen is in close attendance, lurking in third place, just 1.8s behind the Frenchman.
