MSA-British Rally Championship Finale

This weekend sees the final round of the 2012 MSA British Rally Championship with International Rally Yorkshire hosting the sixth round of the series. Based in Scarborough, the event format features one stage on Friday, five stages on Saturday in the forests over the North Yorkshire Moors and, although some of the BRC titles have already been decided, it's here that the overall champion together with the winners of all the supporting categories and classes will be decided.

Overall, the driver's title looked like a a three-way battle but this has swiftly been reduced to a two-horse race with the news that having wrapped up the Fiesta SportTrophy (FST) championship in Northern Ireland last month, Elfyn Evans has elected to miss the season finale and instead, concentrate on preparing for the fifth round of the WRC Academy at the 2012 Rallye de France Alsace.

In claiming the FST UK crown and currently laying joint first in the British Rally Championship's (BRC) overall standings, 2012 has been a sensational year for Evans who competes in the Ford Fiesta R2. However, the popular Welshman is also leading the FIA WRC Academy and has decided not to fight for the BRC title but look to cementing the prestigious WRCA.
