Rally Stars at Goodwood Revival 2012

Whatever your motorsport persuasion there will be little doubts that the 2012 Goodwood Revival is the place to be 14-16th September and a truly unforgettable weekend. Mouth-watering grids, scintillating on-track action and a number of significant anniversaries in motor sport will be celebrated.

An unprecedented group of Silver Arrows will charge flat out around the circuit to celebrate 75 years since Mercedes' legendary machines first appeared in Britain. The Revival will also celebrate 50 years of the iconic AC cobra with a race dedicated to the model.

For rally enthusiast to avoid that feeling of guilt brought about by deserting Britain's round of the World Rally Championship, Wales Rally GB; moved to this weekend by the FIA, there will be several top-line rally protagonists past and present at the Revival to prevent withdrawal symptoms.

Goodwood favourite, regular racer and Monte Carlo rally winner Rauno Aaltonen will drive a fifties saloon in the St Mary's Trophy as will former BMC works driver Alec Poole. Also in this crowd-pleasing race is IRDC vice-president and ex Skoda works rally legend, Norwegian John Haugland, joined by current rally competitor and IRDC member Tony Jardine.

Mini legend Barrie 'Whizzo' Williams displays his consumate versatility by competing in the special race to mark the 50th anniversary of the fearsome AC Cobra and one of the world's most enduringly famous racing drivers; and 1954 Alpine Rally award winner Stirling Moss, will take part in the tribute to American rallying icon Dan Gurney.

Once again Lord March and his team have prepared a feast of racing to be enjoyed by enthusiasts of this Golden period of national and international motor sport when the key word was 'sport'.
