Solberg to star at RallyDay 2012
The IRDC is pleased to be attending this year's popular RallyDay, scheduled for Castle Combe circuit a month earlier this year on Saturday 18th August and will have its familier gazebo as a meeting point for members in the paddock.
In addition to the Stars in their unreasonably priced cars this year's event will have some fantastic action on the Feature Rally Stage with the Ex Colin McRae Network Q RAC Winning Subaru Impreza WRC97 now joining other evocative rally cars from past era's including Audi UK's quattro S1 E2, Peugeot's 405T16, and Peugeot 205 T16, Subaru's Impreza WRC S12, Ford's Escort WRC and Escort Cosworth GpA and a plethora of classics includingTriumph TR4, Renault R8 Gordini, Metro 6R4, Mitsubishi Starion GpA, Mitsubishi VR4, Ford Focus WRC to name but a few plus the stunning ex Mikkola Audi quattro A2 which helped launch the first ever RallyDay event in way back in 2001
Twice British Rally Champion Jonny Milner has confirmed his attendance and will be driving his Toyota Corolla WRC plus an ex-works Celica GpA on the demanding Feature Rally Stage as well as rally legend and 5 times British Rally Champion Jimmy McRae who will transport us back to 1978 where he's reunited with the DTV Chevette he campaigned in that era.
As if that wasn't enough, Rallyday organisers have pulled off a major coup by securing the 2003 World Rally Champion, Petter Solberg, to make his very first appearance at the UK's Premier Rally Car Show. Solberg, who is one of the WRC's biggest names, will pilot the Castrol Edge sponsored Ford World Rally Team Fiesta RS WRC car at the annual event.
Commenting, Petter said: "I'm really looking forward to attending RallyDay 2012. Everybody knows how passionate I am about this sport and to be surrounded by so many legendary cars and drivers will just be awesome! I also can't wait to put on a spectacular show for the fans in my Ford Fiesta RS WRC. It looks like being a really fantastic day."
Also confirmed for this year's show is the inspirational Race2Recovery team who proved so popular with fans in 2011, the team comprising mainly of injured service personnel. Rides in QT Wildcats are available on a first come first served basis within the Cooper Tires 4x4 Rally Raid Zone at just £25
Castrol EDGE and Motorsport News are searching for a rally star to drive their Ford Fiesta R2 to success! Finalists have now been selected and will be heading to Rallyday for a shoot-out in the Ford Fiesta R2.
Conceived and evolved by rally enthusiasts, Rallyday is an annual show which gives visitors a chance to enjoy the spectacle of seeing a wide range of rally cars, and rally stars, in an open and spectator friendly environment. It combines live action on the track with static displays in the paddock and has something to offer everyone from the rally enthusiast to a family looking for an enjoyable day out - don't miss it!
